Always make sure to have your Animal Friend checked-out by a Vet, and follow all intructions the Vet may give. This is essential to keeping a healthy Animal Friend/Pet. A dog 10+ years, a cat 20+ years, or a parrot for 125 years - they all add so much to our live's, and as in the case of a Service Companion, a person's independence is gained.

When looking for a new Animal Friend/Pet, there are many options available. Be sure, if you are buying a puppy from a private party, that it is not a puppy mill. For example, be sure the seller has references and a history of healthy animals. Always be sure to report any mistreatment/maltreatment of animals to your local law enforcement agency.

Pet shops are not the only place to find a new Animal Friend/Pet. The ASPCA and the Humane Society are two of many national and local organizations that deal in animal rescue and animal protection. So, when you get an animal from them it will have been checked and certified before sale. Many people get happy healthy animals from such animal rescue operations.
